Default September 11th

I felt sure that there would be a thread on 9-11, since someone posted when Steve Irwin died. There was nothing, so I will start it.

I started watch shortly after the first plane hit and watched nothing else for several weeks after (we have NY tv stations). My partner works in NYC so I waited and worried until she called and then, via mapquest, helped her find a way out of the city.

It was the worst time not only for our country but for the world, because of the people from all over the world, who not only worked at the WTC but live in New York City. I'm having a hard time seeing it all again, it hurts physically and emotionally.

Lets all share our thoughts and memories of that day.

I was in school in the 10th grade when this happened. I remember my class watching CNN and we turned it on after the first plane had hit. It was a really dark day for alot of us. But I won't say we didn't deserve such a thing to happen on our grounds. We're like a bully to alot of other countries. Well.. I take it back, kinda. We didn't deserve this, I feel no one deserves such a thing, but we had it coming to us.

Nobody deserved this, nobody deserves to never be able to see their family ever again, never to speak to their friends or to tell their loved ones how much they loved them.

My heart goes out to all the people who died that day, to all those whose lives it touched, to all the family members of the deceased.

May they rest in peace for ever and ever.

Keep in mind that this thread is a reflection of the events that took place on the day mentioned, not a questionaire on political views or thoughts about how bad/good certain administrations may be.

Thanks

On the way to my uni. this morning they were interviewing a person that was in the second tower.

It's really sad what happened and no one will ever forget what happened.

I give my heart to those out there that lost someone special and dear to them on this day.

My sept 11 story.

I was in class.

We were just doing work. One of my friends came in, late to class and he was like "Did you hear theres a terrorist attack on the Twin Towers?!"

Our computer lab has no windows...so we were like "WTF?!"

Everyone jumped online to access the news, but most websites like yahoo/google etc were down/slow/timing out.

So we ran to the other side of the building.

From our windows, we had a direct view of the two towers. My professor talked to one of the admins and we ran to the roof for a better look.

One of my classmates started crying. I got angry....

My professor told us class was dismissed and we kinda dispersed. The whole campus was in a daze and confusion.

Me and my friend went down to the school cafe where they have a big screen TV turned to the news. It was showing lots of different stuff. People were angry, some were panicking, some were sad. A lot were confused.

There was speculation. Whats going on? Will there be more attacks? My friend was panicking because her mom was a nurse in NYC and her cell phone wasnt reaching her, all the signals were dead or busy.

I just kinda rode out the day watching the news with my friends, discussing politics and wondering.

I was in class when i saw the second plane hit. I missed the towers falling but i know that we did nothing that day at school. The only thing i could do when i got home was sit in front of the TV and watch in horror as they showed the planes hitting and the towers falling. That is a day i will never forget.

At that day, i woke up early and was watching the news (been doing that since freshmen year). I was flipping through the channels and stop at CNN and saw the news that World Trade Center were hitted by airplanes. For some unknown reason, i turned the TV off when my sisters and mom walked into the living room. I went to school that day and like rest of my friends, we're all shocked at what happened. We went to our first class which is a computer lab and our teacher were actually crying about this. The TV were on and we watched as the tower collapsed. The rest of the day, i was doing nothing in class and just listen to the teacher talked about what happened that day. Almost all my classes, the teacher didn't do any of the course works. I would never forget about that day.. 9/11/01.

Heres my story. ^^

The morning it happened I woke up and went downstairs to get some breakfast before I left for school. My mom was telling me about some building that a plane crashed into, as I didn't think much of it because I was late for school I just said really? and headed my way out the door.
Once I got to school to my first period, the class television was on to the local news over a report of the twin towers being invaded, I was then shocked and realized that, that was what my mom was talking about.
For my first three classes all class rooms had televisions on so the students could see any new news. After third period the principal made an annoucement for all teachers to turn off all tvs and to continue the day as any other regular school day. There were people crying and calling their parents to get them excused from classes and such.

I'd say it is something that I will never forget.

I was in the middle of ISTEP testing in 10th grade when all this happened...

Only reason I knew anything was going on is that I was taking my test near the window that lead into our Distance Learning room where they had a tv. Our teachers said we couldnt watch which kinda made a few of us somewhat angry, but it was for the better since we were in the middle of a rather important test with it being for our graduation.

But with all that going on it was kinda hard to focus on the testing. =/

Later that day, or a few days later (cant remember) my PE teacher was telling us that this was our present and we were living this. Just like our parents and their parents lived through a lot of various events in our past. We need to remember so that our children and their children can learn of our expierence and be better for it.

For all those that were lost on that day, we will not forget. For all those that survived, keep living and better yourself every day. No one knows if you'll be called on to become heros in the future.

All of my daughters called me that morning with the news -- one from school, one from her home, one from her office. A terrible tragedy, not to be forgotten, but in the final analysis, evil cannot conquer.

I can't believe the insensitive morons who can't sympathize with the families devastated by the 9/11 attacks, instead spouting the old anti American, 'George Bush is an Idiot( he's already fooled you if you believe that)' mantra.
My condolances to all affected.

today they did a somewhat special announcement in school with remarks about Sept. 11, it somewhat angered me because of the first words to reach my ears

"On this day, the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11"

i was quite upset at the word choice, because an anniversary is not such a word that should be used with such a tragedy, an anniversary usually marks a happy or joyful occasion, this is not one of those times.

it's the little things that make things worse

i know people will say, "we will never forget Sept 11.", but those of you who would say that answer me this, when was pearl harbor? if you know, then congrats, you won't forget another such terrifying day

as it was i was in school during the attacks, and we were close to the pentagon so we were evacuated.

it was a very sad day for the world.
my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones in the attacks.

Seriously, when the planes crashed into the building, I was in a math exam. No, it never stopped for the event, nor did we know about it.

When I arrived home at about 5 pm that day, I turned on the television to watch The Simpsons, only to find it to be replaced with a news braodcast.

My elementary school is ignorant.
